2025 ASGMT General Committee Chairman

Don Sextro
Sr. Engineering Manager
Targa Resources

The American School of Gas Measurement Technology is pleased to announce Don Sextro as General Chairman for the 2025 school. Mr. Sextro is responsible for supporting natural gas, natural gas liquids and crude oil measurement for Targa from the corporate headquarters in Houston. Since beginning his career in 1979 with Cities Service in Tulsa, he has worked in measurement, project management, operations and in engineering positions for Targa and its predecessor companies. This experience highlighted that measurement offers endless opportunities for growth and adaptation as technology and work processes continually evolve.

Mr. Sextro joined the ASGMT General Committee in 2013 and became an instructor for several newly developed NGL measurement lecture classes after having attended ASGMT several times in prior years. He is active in industry standards development organizations, serving as the chairman of the API Committee on Petroleum Measurement and contributes to GPA Midstream work in the measurement committee and the analysis committee. He also serves as the vice-chairman of the International School of Hydrocarbon Measurement Executive Committee.

For over thirty years, his attention has been dedicated to supporting design, construction, operation, and maintenance activities for gas and liquid measurement across natural gas processing plants, natural gas liquids fractionators, LPG ships, salt dome underground storage, natural gas and crude oil gathering, and NGL and LPG pipelines. He has also delved into propane product quality training and troubleshooting. Throughout his career, he has found that the measurement community is filled with intelligent and dedicated individuals working diligently to determine accurate quantities that provide results acceptable from both sides of the meter.
