Fittipaldi’s and Barbosa’s keynote address will reflect on their careers in sports car racing, highlighting similarities between competing on a track and a successful career in the energy industry. Additionally, they will be showcasing their champion Corvette Daytona Prototype while at the school.

Fittipaldi was born with racing in his blood; he is the son of former Formula 1 driver Wilson Fittipaldi and the nephew of two-time Formula 1 world champion and two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Emerson Fittipaldi. A former Formula 3000 champion, Fittipaldi has been a fierce competitor in motorsports for nearly three decades. The Brazilian has competed in the IndyCar series, CART series, Formula 1, NASCAR and IMSA.

Fittipaldi, a native of Brazil, teamed with Portuguese driver João Barbosa to win three races on their way to claiming the inaugural Tudor United SportsCar Championship and the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup, and the two class drivers’ championships.

Before coming to the United States to compete in sports car racing full time in 2001, Barbosa honed his skills competing in Europe. As a child, he competed in Portuguese karting and wo

n championships in his homeland and across Europe.  In addition to winning the 2014 championships and the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the duo of Fittipaldi and Barbosa raced to victory in the Brickyard Grand Prix and the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America. Fittipaldi grabbed the team’s second pole position of the year with a lighting fast qualifying effort at Road Atlanta for the season ending Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. Fittipaldi and Barbosa will be paired again behind the wheel of the championship winning red and white Action Express Racing Corvette Prototype.

We are thrilled to have Fittipaldi and Barbosa speak at this year’s school to celebrate the 50th anniversary,” says 2015 ASGMT General Chairman Ace Astala. “They are a perfect example of dedication and teamwork. The students can gain valuable insight into achieving success through perseverance, hard work and commitment.”

The annual ASGMT affords an opportunity to exchange ideas and information associated with flow measurement. More importantly, the school provides valuable information on new advances in product development and also theory of operation. Not only does the student receive training from an analytical viewpoint but also has the opportunity to obtain hands-on experience with various products. The school is held in the convention center complex of the Marriott Houston Westchase Hotel located at 2900 Briarpark Drive, Houston Texas.
