American School of Gas Measurement Technology Announces Special Training Track: Gas Flow Measurement Fundamentals

Houston, Texas 14 March 2017

The American School of Gas Measurement Technology (ASGMT) is pleased to announce that its September 18-21, 2017, school in Houston will include a new educational track entitled “Gas Flow Measurement Fundamentals.” This new curriculum is suitable for all levels of experience and consists of 11 lecture classes that would benefit both field and plant measurement technicians, as well as operations personnel with measurement responsibilities. Topical areas to be covered include:

  • Measurement Units and Temperature and Pressure
  • Natural Gas Properties
  • Gas Composition Determination
  • Turbine, Positive Displacement, and Rotary Flow Meters
  • Orifice Flow Meters
  • Ultrasonic Flow Meters
  • Coriolis Flow Meters
  • Other Flow Meter Types
  • Verification and Testing
  • Data Capture, Processing, and Retention
  • Measurement Error and Associated Lost and Unaccounted For (LAUF) Gas Volumes

“We’re pleased to offer this new track dedicated to the fundamentals of gas flow measurement,” said Michael Squyres, President of the ASGMT Board of Directors. “The new curriculum offers the students a supercharged collection of classes that are designed to provide a comprehensive end-to-end understanding of gas measurement. We feel that this offering provides great value for companies that are looking for quality training within a tight budget.”

Each student will receive a student guide containing all information presented during the training. Additionally, at the end of the track, proficiency testing will be offered to receive a certificate of completion. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) may also be obtained for a nominal fee.

The instructors for this special track were selected based on their industry experience and involvement in the development and maintenance of the various gas measurement standards. The instructors will provide insight on those standards during the training.
